Emily has been described as a gifted storyteller of the heart.
She applies heightened theatricality, text driven analysis, sharp humor, devised movement, and a meticulous attention to rhythm to tell stories that center the endurance of the human spirit.
As a lifelong student of art history, Emily’s work is visually imaginative and compositionally driven.
Her rehearsal rooms are joyful, inclusive, and brave.
She has been known to sneak magic tricks into her plays.
Favorite theatrical credits include: The Grown-Ups (Baby Teeth), Bitch Boxer (Krank Brooklyn), The Winterguard Play (Skidmore College), Dance Nation, Nonna Kills the President, Promithes Promithes, Uncle Vanya, As You Like It, Men on Boats, End Days, and Ironbound (University of California San Diego); And We’re Live, and Coffee Break (Actors Theatre of Louisville). She has self-produced productions of Chamber Music, Untitled American Flag Craft Project, and Good Cry.
She is currently serving as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Directing at Skidmore college for the 24/25 school year.
Emily’s favorite assistant and associate directing credits include The Thin Place (dir. Les Waters), Peace for Mary Frances (dir. Lila Neugebauer), and Pipeline (Steve H. Broadnax III).
Emily’s first short film HOBBIES was featured at the 2023 Oscar qualifying Hollyshorts festival. Her second short film “Shot Day” will premiere in 2025. She has directed voice over performances for Riot Games and Square Enix.
Emily is the co-artistic director of Baby Teeth, an LA-based performance ensemble dedicated to immersive presentations of new work and LA premieres as well as independent film. Baby Teeth’s inaugural production of The Grown-Ups was hailed as “one of the best pieces to grace LA’s theatre scene this season” and nominated for multiple regional awards including Best Direction of a Play, Best Play, Best Ensemble, Best Immersive Production, Best Local Theater.
She has read scripts and applications for the literary teams of The Geffen, The O’neill, Ars Nova ANTFEST, Actors Theatre of Louisville and Pipeline Theater Company.
She has developed new plays with The New Harmony Project, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Orchard Project, Chautauqua Theater Company, Ensemble Studio Theatre LA, The Associates Theater Ensemble, Joe’s Pub, Chance Theater, IAMA Theatre Company, SITI Company, The Duplex, The Geffen, The Tank, and Pipeline Theatre Company.
